Trafficking in Men
A greater amount of certified U.S victims are men.
-In 2006 there were 234 total certified victims in the U.S. 6% were men.
- In 2007 there were 270 total certified victims in the U.S. 30 % were men.
- In 2008 there were 286 total certified victims in the U.S. 45% were men.
Human trafficking has been on the rise for years now but the rise in the trafficking of men has gone up a significant amount over the years as well. Traffickers typically lure men into slavery the way they lure women to the business as well: promises of jobs, money, etc. Very often young boys are kidnapped and thrust into the slave trade.
This shows that traffickers are taking an interest in men as well as women. Both are on the rise and it needs to stopped.
